Description

DO NOT BRING OR CARRY ANY GUN, KNIFE, OR OC DEFENSIVE SPRAY ON OR ABOUT YOUR PERSON INTO THE CLASSROOM!

PLEASE ARRIVE WITH UNLOADED HANDGUNS IN A CASE, RANGE BAG, OR BACKPACK AND LEAVE THEM LOCKED OUT OF PLAIN SIGHT IN YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO REMOVE THEM

WHO:

  • You must be a current Texas K-12 school employee (teacher or administrator) with a valid Texas License to Carry card
  • You must be able to read and speak English without a translator
  • Children and spectators are NOT permitted

CHECK-IN:

  • If you are sick or think you are getting sick, do not come to this class. Anyone showing signs of flu-like symptoms will be asked to leave. We will work with you to reschedule the class
  • You MUST be checked in and seated before class starts
  • By law, if you miss the safety brief, you will not be permitted to participate in class and will need to be rescheduled
  • No cameras or video permitted

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Valid and unexpired Texas License to Carry card
  • Valid and unexpired school employee identification card or other proof of ISD employment
  • Serviceable handgun .22 caliber minimum pistol caliber semiautomatic or revolver with traditional “iron” sights (no lasers, red dots, optics, or magnifiers)
  • 300 rounds minimum of new factory SAAMI ammunition (no reloads or remanufactured cartridges)
  • 2 unloaded magazines (for semiautomatic handguns)
  • Belt holster with passive retention and form fits the trigger guard
  • Ear and eye protection
  • Note taking materials
  • Food and beverage to sustain yourself for (2) 5 hour blocks of instruction per day (we schedule a one hour lunch break each day)
  • Open mind plus any and all questions relating to active shooter / mass killing events

WHAT TO WEAR:

  • Closed-toe footwear
  • Dress in layers to be comfortable and engaged in varying classroom and range temperatures
  • Ball cap for shooting (optional)

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • You must pass a 28 question multiple choice / true-false pre-test with 90% or better to earn shooting proficiency qualification
  • Upon successful pre-test outcome, you must pass the Texas License to Carry proficiency qualification shoot with 90% or better (225 out of 250) to participate in the 2 day 20 hour class

  • If you are not confident your marksmanship is sufficient to pass the proficiency qualification, please take an advanced handgun class from a reputable instructor or schedule and complete a two hour Private Lesson with us at least one week before class
  • NO REFUNDS. If you fail the pre-test or proficiency qualification, you can reschedule and retake this class or use the funds as credit to be used toward any Force Justified class or private lesson
  • The classroom is Texas Department of Public Safety mandated content that covers Protection of Students, Interaction of License Holders with First Responders, Tactics for Denying an Intruder Entry into a Classroom or School Facility, and Methods for Increasing a License Holder’s Accuracy with a Handgun While Under Duress
  • Course includes (5) practical role-play exercises
  • You must pass a 30 question multiple choice / true-false written test at the end of class with 90% or better to receive a LTC-97 Completion of School Safety Training certificate and LTC-95 Certification of School Safety Class Completion filed with Texas DPS

SAFETY STANDARDS

  • Please read our Safety Standards document prior to class
  • You are expected to read and follow the official Range Rules at the shooting facility
